Seed Synbiotic Review by a dietitian (NOT sponsored)

After trying Seed Synbiotic for over seven months now, I thought I’d give you an honest review of the product, as a dietitian and consumer.

Seed Synbiotic is a very popular prebiotic and probiotic supplement. You see a ton of influencers promoting it, but does it work? And is it worth your money?

I’m going to share that with you today. And just so you know, I have paid for all of my Seed probiotics to date and they haven’t paid me to make this video.

For those of you that don’t know me, I’m Katey. I’m a registered dietitian and certified personal trainer. My goal is to help you achieve health and wellness in an easy and affordable way. Ultimately, I want you to be your best, whatever that looks like for you.

What is Seed?

Simply put, Seed is a prebiotic and probiotic supplement.

A prebiotic is a food/supplement that helps to feed beneficial bacteria in the gut.

A probiotic is a strain of healthy bacteria – and sometimes other microorganisms – that supports our body’s own microbiome and may have health benefits.

What’s unique about Seed is their strong scientific approach to their supplements and their ingredients.

In two Seed capsules, you get:

  • 24 probiotic strains totaling 53.6 Billion AFUs, which stands for Active Fluorescent Units. This is a measure of bacteria that is relatively new, but seems to be more accurate compared to CFUs, or Colony Forming Units.

  • Punicalagins derived from Indian Pomegranate, which act as a prebiotic

  • ViaCap Delivery Technology, which is capsule that protects the bacteria during digestion to ensure they reach the intestinal tract

Right away I really like the fact that they are transparent about their ingredients. They specific each strain and the amount. If you’re buying a probiotic, they should be very transparent about this.

They also ensure their claims are research-backed, which is always something I’m looking for.

Further, they test for quality control and report the data.

And do many other tests, such as SHIME, which helps to see how the probiotics will last throughout digestion.

Honestly, I give Seed a lot of props for the amount of effort they put into their products. It’s one of the reasons that I even gave them a shot to begin with.

My personal experience

I started taking Seed at the end of March 2023. I wanted to try them for myself because I’ve heard a lot about the company and wanted to see if I would find benefit.

I also wanted to have first-hand experience with this product so that I could help others decide if it’s worth taking.

First, I received the product in a box that contained a glass jar and packets of the probiotics. I like that they give you one jar and then you can refill it. It’s less wasteful and convenient.

When I first started taking Seed, I’m not going to lie, it had a little bit of a grassy taste despite swallowing them whole. This isn’t a big deal, since it lasts only a few seconds, but thought I’d mention that.

Since I’m a dietitian, I know how to properly track symptoms when taking a new supplement. So, for over 90 days, I tracked my bloating, bowel movements, and overall changes since starting the supplement.

For the first month, I didn’t notice a huge change, but I did notice that I felt less bloated than normal.

After a few weeks, I felt more regular in terms of bowel movements. But, I do have a pretty healthy diet and that’s not really a concern for me.

After three months, I received my second order of Seed. I will say, they have a convenient subscription program that ensures you get your order well before your last one runs out.

You can also cancel or pause the subscription really easily, which I appreciate from a customer standpoint.

I did make sure to take Seed each morning after waking up on an empty stomach and can genuinely say I didn’t notice any negative side effects from it.

Now, it’s October and what do I think?

My bloating is definitely down, and I think that’s the biggest change I have noticed.

On top of that, I do think I’m a little more regular, but this change wasn’t huge probably because I didn’t have that concern from the beginning.

Another claim is that the product may help with improving skin health by supporting the gut-skin-axis.

Simply put, our gut is connected to basically every part of our body. A healthy gut can mean a healthy immune system, a healthy brain, a healthy heart, and even healthy skin.

While we need more research, there is some to connect a healthy gut microbiome with healthy skin.

So far, I’ll say that my skin has improved over the past few months, and maybe Seed has something to do with it. But, I also have put a lot of effort into my diet and skincare routine, so it’s hard to say.

Pros of taking Seed

I really have enjoyed taking Seed so far and plan to continue.

Some major benefits include:

  • Less bloating

  • Improved regularity

  • Maybe some skin benefits

  • The subscription program is convenient

  • The supplement is easy to take

  • The website is easy to use and ordering is simple

  • You don’t need to refrigerate them

  • Comes with a convenient travel container

Cons of taking Seed

Really, the only downside of taking Seed is the cost. Normally, it costs $49.99 USD per month. If you live in the United States, then you don’t have to pay for shipping. But, if you live in Canada like I do, then you have to pay a shipping fee. My last order cost me $19.50 in shipping and duties.

Keep in mind, that’s without a coupon code. As you can see in the image, I paid less in April because I had a really good coupon code.

For someone on a budget, you may not be able to afford this product and that’s okay.

I want you to know that you DO NOT have to take a probiotic supplement to be healthy. You can get probiotics through food, which will definitely support your gut health. Though, they might not be in this high of quantity.

If this is in your budget, then I think it’s a good option.

My overall thoughts

So far, I really like Seed. I think it’s one of the better probiotic supplements out there. I think the company does an awesome job explaining the benefits, not making wild claims, and being confident in their product.

Personally, I’ve enjoyed using Seed and plan to continue. Keep in mind that I’m not being paid to talk about this product, so this really is my honest opinion.

Do I think it’s a magic pill? Of course not. The company doesn’t claim that either.

Do I think that you should go out of your budget to get it? No. I wouldn’t recommend that for any supplement.

But, if you have been wanting to try Seed and it IS within your budget, then this is one I would probably recommend.
